Commissioner's College
Degree Requirements
All Northern California Commissioner's College Degrees require that you be registered as a Commissioner and that your application meet the approval of your Council Assistant Dean.
Associate of Commissioner Science (ACS)
- Complete “Unit Commissioner's Orientation: Helping Units Succeed”
- Complete Basic Training Appropriate to your Position
- Complete Two Courses from the BCS Group
- Successfully complete BSA's Youth Protection Training
- Pledge of Two Unit Visits in the Next Month
Bachelor of Commissioner Science (BCS)
- Complete “Unit Commissioner's Orientation: Helping Units Succeed”
- Complete Basic Training Appropriate to your Position
- Complete Seven Courses at least Five from the BCS Group
- Commissioner's Arrowhead may be Substituted for One Course
- Earning the “Trained” strip in a Scouting Program may be Substituted for One Course
- Successfully complete BSA's Youth Protection Training
Master of Commissioner Science (MCS)
- Completion of Bachelor's (BCS) or Award of “Commissioner's Key”
- Arrowhead Honor
- Complete Seven Additional Courses (Total 14)at least Seven courses must be from MCS group
- BCS Holders may Substitute Commissioner's Key for One Course
- Earning the “Trained” strip in Two Scouting Programs May Be Substituted for One Course
Doctor of Commissioner Science (DCS)
- Completion of Master's (MCS)
- Commissioner's Key
- Complete Ten Additional Courses (Total 24) at least Three courses must be from the DCS group
- Each Course Taught on the College Teaching Staff may be Substituted for One Course
- Each Year Spent on College Staff (other than Teaching) may be Substituted for One Course
- Complete an Approved Research Project or Thesis
- Earning the Award of “Distinguished Commissioner” May Be Substituted for the Project or Thesis
- Serve on the Commissioner's College Staff for at least One Year
- Recruit and Coach at least One New Commissioner
